Stock Market Project

The major project I do in Economics is the Stock Market Project. I borrowed this idea from another teacher and found that students really enjoy it. Students choose a corporation that offers stock on Wall Street to research as well as track, graph and chart the company's stock over a 4 week period. The company analysis essay is written after researching the company's long term situation and the evaluation essay is written after tracking the health of the company's stock over the one month period they personally observe. I had students work in groups of two for the project and many had friendly competitions about whose stock would do better. Most students find tracking the stock of a company exciting and few know much about the stock market before taking Economics.
